We are a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to the welfare of the Border Collie. We are active in rescue from shelters and we assist owners who wish to place their dogs. We depend on donations, adoption fees and profit from sale of merchandise to take care of the dogs in foster care. Medical bills run very high and donations are always welcome. HENNA NEEDS YOUR HELP!!

Henna is fighting for her life right now after being hit by a car. She was taken to a local veterinary hospital after concerned citizens saw her get hit and scooped her off the road. Rescue was contacted when they were not able to locate an owner. We were asked to rescue this cute little girl or she would have to be euthanized. Who could refuse that face?Henna, named for her beautiful red coat, is only 5 months old. You can see by the photos that her left front leg is super swollen. When the swelling went down and the doctor was finally able to x-ray her, he found her leg was broken in 3 different places. Repairing the leg would be very extensive and the recovery period would be long. The veterinarian recommended having the leg amputated. This is a good option as her recovery period will be much shorter and she will be able to adjust to having only 3 legs, very quickly. We've had several 3 legged dogs in our rescue program and they have all done tremendously well. One of our 3 legged female rescue dogs is now a therapy dog, traveling to hospitals to meet human amputees, giving them love and hope.

Rescue has been hit hard this month with many health issues including another male rescue dog who had to have his leg amputated. Now Henna needs our help.

Due to the rise in veterinary costs and other fees for our rescue dogs, we are raising our adoption donations beginning May 15, 2008. We have kept our adoption donations at the same rate for the past three years, but it has become increasingly more difficult to make ends meet.
